Technology Plan Certification
Introduction

NOTICE

The online tech plan tool is being updated and moved from the UNL location to a server at the Nebraska Dept of Education and will be part of consolidated data collection. The new interface is not yet open for input.

If you need to complete a tech plan for 2012 Erate funding purposes prior to the new systems coming online, please contact SuAnn Witt at suann.witt@nebraska.gov or 402-471-2085. Updates and instructions for using the new interface will be emailed to those contacts identified in last year's submitted plans.

As a USAC authorized technology plan approver, the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) reviews and certifies school technology plans for public schools in Nebraska. This certification allows schools to become eligible to apply for funding under the Universal Service Fund, Schools and Libraries Discount Program (E-rate). Certification ensures that a school or district has addressed a required set of components in its plan.

Completing all of the sections within this online instrument allows NDE to receive the plan in a format consistent with the five technology plan elements specified by the Schools and Libraries Division (SLD). In addition, it provides relevant documentation in the event of audit or selective review, and may enhance approval of the SLD Program Integrity Assurance (PIA) application review process. It is also designed to facilitate the review process by NDE allowing for efficient and rapid certification.

Certification provides a timestamp of the completed plan and that the applicant has addressed the required elements as set forth by the Universal Service Administration Company. Neither NDE nor the Tech Plan approver is responsible for Technology Plan content.
